City University of Hong Kong

The 'City Walk of Life' Photography Exhibition at CityU, aligned with the Study in Hong Kong Week by showcasing Hong Kong’s vibrancy, creativity, and cultural diversity as an inspiring place for study and living. As part of an experiential learning initiative that included photography workshops and a city walk led by local photographer Jarvis L, the exhibition encouraged students to engage with the city through visual storytelling. It provided an opportunity for both local and non-local students to gain a deeper appreciation of Hong Kong’s unique urban landscape and global character.

Hong Kong Baptist University

Campus life at HKBU blends cultural discovery, academic engagement, and social connection. During Study in Hong Kong Week, international students participated in jazz music sessions, High Table Dinners, Chinese tea workshops, the Soong Student Hall Festival, college badminton, the International Association Sports Night, and the BUHackathon focused on digital well-being. They also joined the three-day Lai Chi Wo service-learning camp — an immersive residential experience involving organic farming, community service, and nature-based solutions for cultural heritage and ecosystem resilience — and the Lai Chi Wo Rural Children’s Play Culture Festival, which advocated for UN SDGs through energy decarbonisation, waste reduction, and promotion of Hakka traditions as a sustainable living model. These activities fostered an inclusive environment where international students built friendships and thrived at HKBU.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong

During the Study in Hong Kong Week CUHK celebrated its vibrant international community, where students from around the world unite through food and cultural exchange. International students got hands-on with Chinese culture, learning the art of dumpling-making, a festive tradition symbolizing prosperity, and enjoying tangyuan and snacks at the Lantern Festival. These activities highlighted CUHK’s commitment to campus internationalisation, offering everyone opportunities to explore diverse customs, connect across cultures, and build lasting friendships. Food not only nourishes, but also fosters an inclusive, welcoming environment where students learn and grow together.

The Education University of Hong Kong

During EdU’s Study in Hong Kong Week, international students are invited to immerse themselves in the vibrant local culture through two signature experiences: the Poon Choi Banquet and the Survival Cantonese Series. The Poon Choi Banquet offered a unique opportunity to celebrate the Chinese New Year in true Hong Kong fashion, as students, residents, and staff come together over a traditional communal meal. This event not only introduced participants to the rich flavours and festive spirit of Poon Choi, but also deepened their understanding of the importance of “reunion” in Chinese culture through cultural performances and shared celebration. Complementing this was the Survival Cantonese Series, which provided interactive sessions for non-local students to explore Hong Kong’s culinary heritage while learning practical Cantonese. Whether through casual chit-chat about local food or engaging in board game workshops, these activities empowered international students to communicate in Cantonese and appreciate the nuances of local customs. Together, these events fostered cross-cultural exchange, encouraged new friendships, and offered memorable pathways for international students to connect with the heart of Hong Kong’s traditions.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

PolyU hosted a Spring Festival and Lantern Festival Experience as part of the Study in Hong Kong Week, providing a unique opportunity for international students at PolyU to immerse themselves in Chinese culture, especially during the festive season of Chinese New Year. This engaging event featured four interactive activities, all guided in English: students tried their hand at Spring Festival calligraphy writing and took home blessings with helpful annotations; experienced traditional Hanfu costumes and captured memorable photos in a themed photo zone; learnt the art of paper-cutting to create lucky window decorations; and sampled classic festive snacks while discovering their cultural significance. The event was designed to help international students appreciate the deep connection between Chinese and Western cultures that is unique to Hong Kong. This celebration served as a welcoming window into Chinese traditions, making it an ideal time for international students to experience the vibrant spirit of both the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival.

The Hong Kong University of Science and technology

During the "Study in Hong Kong Week," two exciting events were held at HKUST that showcased Hong Kong as a premier international education hub. The first event invited international students on a hiking adventure through Hong Kong’s breathtaking natural landscapes. Participants immersed themselves in the stunning beauty of the region, experiencing vibrant flora and fauna, awe-inspiring vistas, and discovering hidden gems that make Hong Kong truly unique. The second activity, the "Global Fiesta x Language and Culture Day," transformed HKUST into a lively cultural marketplace over two days. This vibrant festival featured interactive booths offering traditional snacks, hands-on arts and crafts, cultural games, and captivating live performances. Together, these activities celebrated the spirit of Study in Hong Kong Week, promoting friendships and cultural exchange among local and international students while highlighting Hong Kong's dynamic role in global education.
